Aims

The student will be able to read an Ugaritic text on writing tablets. Translation and philological comment of texts.

Main themes

Reading and study of some Ugaritic letters and rituals. The grammar of this language will be progressively studied while reading the texts.

Content and teaching methods

Reading and study of letters, rituals and mythological extracts. Notes are distributed to the students. Bibliographical research.

Prerequisite : students are expected to be familiar with a Semitic language.
Evaluation : preparation of an unseen text.
Texts and books : Photocopied notes will be handed out to the students.
