1. An introduction to informatic systems and their use:
various material components, use systems, broad categories of computer, file compatibility between applications and between systems, and conversion methods.
2. An introduction to informatic processing of image sound and video:
data capture, analogue/digital conversion, process software (e.g. Photoshop and Sound Forge).
3. An introduction to networks:
the principles and ways of functioning of local and inter-connected networks, the main surfing software, and file transfer.
4. A comparative presentation of a range of multimedia creative software (e.g. Dreamweaver, Director, Flash and Authorware).

Pre-requirements: A basic knowledge of a range of communication technology.
A classroom including a video projector, a computer equipped with multimedia creation software and an Internet link. Students may be able to use a multimedia informatics suite.
