Aims
- build a corpus of language data (oral or written) for a particular purpose of linguistic research ;
- handle several computer softwares specialized in corpus analysis ;
- make a quantitative study on a corpus ;
- make a qualitative study on a corpus.
Content and teaching methods
- corpus development :
o corpora typology (static vs dynamic corpora ; types of texts ; alignment ; metadata : etc.) ;
o written corpora: existing resources ; automatic and manual encoding and annotations ;
o oral corpora: existing resources ; recording and digitalisation ; transcription and annotations ; socio-linguistic profiling.
- Principles and methods of qualitative analysis : data grids ; selection of coding criteria according to research hypothesis, etc. ;
