Aims

Introduction to the archaeology and art history of Pharaonic Egypt and of the Ancient Near East (Levant, Mesopotamia, Anatolia).

Main themes

Acquisition of the basic knowledges of the historical and geographical context, of the characteristics and the stylistic evolution of the differents periods.
Analysis of the main works of art and art movements, from Prehistory to Late Empire in the Near East (Anatolia, Levant, Mesopotamia, Egypt).

Content and teaching methods

General overview of the archaeology and Ancient Near-Eastern art history (Anatolia, Levant, Mesopotamia and Egypt), in all their aspects (architecture, painting, sculpture, decorative arts), from the origins around 3000 B. C. until their disappearing during the first centuries of the roman occupation.
