By the end of the course the student:
should be familiar with the teaching methods of Dutch as a Foreign Language;
should be able to express a critical view about teaching methods based on an analysis of preliminary analysis;
should be able to understand didactic articles in Dutch on various aspects of teaching of DFL (testing, vocabulary acquisition, grammar teaching, );
should have become familiar with basic statistical techniques for the treatment of research results.
Main themes
In the first part of the seminar a critical approach of certain aspects of the teaching of Dutch as a Foreign Language will be developed.
Based on the current research themes the teacher will choose articles to be analysed on language testing, vocabulary acquisition, listening comprehension or reading skills.
Practical exercises in language test statistics (descriptive and inferential) are part of this course.
Content and teaching methods
The seminar will be based on personal reading of indicated scientific articles in Dutch.
The articles are integrated in a introductory frame presented in a syllabus.

Prerequisite: good proficiency in spoken and written Dutch (level B+ in terms of the CEFR).
Assessment: permanent evaluation of the contribution in the seminar.
Practical application on a case study at the end of the seminar (written exam).
