This course aims at discovering the history of thoughts in geography through major books that have influenced the discipline.
Main themes
- Overview of the history of geography;
- Readings on the major books of geography: Alexander von Humboldt?, Alfred Wegener, Carl Ritter, Paul Vidal de la Blache, Ellen Churchill Semple?Ellen Churchill Semple, William Morris Davis, Georges Perkins Marsh as well as more contemporary authors.
- Presentation of one author and discussion of its contribution to geography.
