This course provides a broad overview of archaeology and Art History in Ancient Egypt and the Ancient Orient (Levant, Mesopotamia and Anatolia).

The course is intended to teach students about the historical and geographical framework and the characteristics and development of style during different periods. The most important works and trends are examined, from pre-historic times to Oriental Late Antiquity (Anatolia, Levant, Mesopotamia and Egypt).
Content and teaching methods
This course provides a broad overview of Archaeology and Art History in Ancient Egypt and the Ancient Orient (Anatolia, Levant, Mesopotamia and Egypt), looking at the different artistic modes (architecture, painting, sculpture and decorative arts), from their appearance at the end of pre-history (around 3000 BC) up until the first centuries of Roman occupation.
