Main themes
An introductory course in Romanic heuristic studies (linguistics) deals with the fundamental concepts intrinsic to Romance languages, describes the Romance idioms with a focus on the variety of their socio-cultural status and opens analytical perspectives through the description of particular methodological approaches in linguistics.
Content and teaching methods
The course consists of three parts:
1. Introduction in the history of Romanic studies: description of the relationship between language and time, space and society;
2. Initiation in bibliographical research;
3. Presentation of the Romance languages within the group of Indo-European languages and within the languages of the world. Differentiation process from Vulgar Latin onwards and (succinct) description of the 11 Romance idioms with their historical, spatial and linguistic characteristics.
