Most of the pathologies for which a treatment in physiotherapy exists will be studied within the framework of the courses of pathologies and physiotherapy of the musculo-skeletal, cardio-respiratory and neurological systems (second year of studies). The present course aims to provide the student with more specialized notions than those developed in KINE 1027 - Introduction to pathology. The domains addressed are internal medicine, pathologies related to ageing and psychiatry.
Main themes
The course is divided into three parts:
Pathologies of internal medicine
- pathologies of the digestive tract: signs, symptoms and diagnosis
- goitres and dysregulations of the thyroid glands
- osteoporosis following pathologies of the gonades and the parathyriod glands
Pathologies related to ageing
- treatment of pressure sores
- iatrogenic and medical treatment
- urinary and fecal incontinence
- hematology
- pathology of red blood cells
- pathology of white blood cells
Psychiatric pathologies
- depression
- anxiety
- schizophrenia
- psychophysical dimensions in psychiatry
- adolescence disturbances
Even if most of these pathologies cannot be cared only by the physiotherapy, these pathologies can require its help in a multi-disciplinary work. More of that these pathologies can interfere with the work of the physiotherapist. These two aspects will be approached.
