A good knowledge of the Hittite and Akkadian languages. The ability to transcribe a cuneiform text, to use the dictionaries, the literary journals and collections quite well.
Main themes
Revision of the essential grammar points. Study of religions and mythological texts dating from the 14th and 13th centuries B.C. The Hittite texts are from the city of Hattusa and the texts in Akkadian come from Emar and Ugarit (Syria).
Content and teaching methods
Study of historic and religious texts of Mari, Emar, Ugarit and Nuzi. Photocopied notes will be handed out to the students.

Prerequisite : Being initiated to the languages with cuneiform writing or having followed the courses GLOR 1611-1612
Evaluation : written exam and translation of and comments on an unseen text.
