Aims

The course aims at providing the student with a general view of the great intellectual debates of Classical Islam, in the global perspective of the transmission of knowledge from Classical Antiquity to the Latin Middle Ages.

Content and teaching methods

The course deals with the great intellectual debates of Classical Islam, in the global perspective of the transmission of knowledge from Classical Antiquity to Latin Middle Ages. It is illustrated with the reading of texts from the classical period quoted in translation. No knowledge of Arabic is required. The course provides E-learning activities, with compulsory registration on the I-campus platform.

Prerequisite : None. No knowledge of Arabic is required.
Evaluation : Oral examination of the contents of the course and discussion of a 10-page long written work on a freely chosen topic. The course provides E-learning activities, with compulsory registration on the I-campus platform.
