The course highlights the identity function of the African languages and their influence on the verbal communication in situations of contact between languages and cultures. The identity function emerges from the analysis of the languages as a means of expression by which the speakers define their universe, translate their vision of the world and segment their experiences. The comparative analysis of conceptual fields will reveal that words, while stating and conveying data in a given language, also define and precise its meaning.
Methods :
Methodology: the analysis of the selected concepts is undertaken in real situations of speech. The student is brought to carry out a linguistic investigation (individually or in teams) amongst people who speak African languages.
