Gli studi più recenti sull’Achilleide hanno approfondito il complesso rapporto intertestuale attuato da Stazio con una poesia diversa dall’epos, soprattutto con la poesia lirico-erotica di Ovidio, Properzio e Orazio. In questo contributo, estendendo il confronto ad altra poesia elegiaca d’età augustea, intendo dimostrare che i versi di Tibullo e di altri poeti del Corpus Tibullianum non costituiscono solamente il terreno da cui Stazio ha attinto semplici ricordi linguistici, ma forniscono diverso materiale sul processo di trasformismo dei ruoli di gender, proponendo efficaci modelli di alternativa mascolinità, particolarmente congeniali alla fisionomia di Achille, e tracciando, al contempo, un’etica del corteggiamento piuttosto utile, insieme ai precetti ovidiani, per la sperimentazione erotica del giovane eroe secondo il racconto staziano.
Abstract:
The most recent studies on the Achilleid have deepened the complex intertextual relationship implemented by Statius with poetry other than epos, especially with the lyric-erotic poetry of Ovid, Propertius and Horace. In this paper, extending the comparison to other elegiac poetry of the Augustan age, I propose that the verses of Tibullus and other poetry of the Corpus Tibullianum constitute not only the grounds from which Statius drew simple linguistic memories, but provides various material on the process of the transformation of gender roles, proposing effective models of alternative masculinity, particularly congenial to Achilles’ physiognomy, and, at the same time, tracing a rather useful ethics of courtship, together with Ovid’s precepts, for the erotic experimentation of the young hero according to the Statian story.
