Cet article se concentre sur la manière dont le cynisme ancien pouvait aborder le sujet de la vie saine dans un milieu socioculturel marqué par la spécialisation et la reconnaissance croissante de la médecine comme domaine de connaissance indépendant. Dans la première section, il fournit un résumé de la recherche récente sur l’anthropologie médicale et montre comment elle peut être adaptée à l’étude de la pensée médicale grecque antique. Le discours cynique, en particulier, sur l’alimentation et la santé entretient une relation complexe avec les approches hippocratiques sur ce sujet. Les caractéristiques dominantes communes qui façonnent le discours sur l’alimentation et la santé dans la diététique hippocratique et la philosophie cynique sont donc explorés et comparés dans la section suivante de cet article. Enfin, la dernière partie se concentre sur les différences entre la pratique diététique hippocratique et les discours cyniques sur la santé, la nature et l’alimentation.

Abstract:
This paper focuses on the way ancient Cynicism could have addressed the subject of healthy living in a sociocultural milieu marked by the specialization and increasing recognition of medicine as an independent area of knowledge. In the first section, it provides a summary of the recent scholarship concerning medical anthropology and how it may be adapted to the study of ancient Greek medical thought. In particular, Cynic discourse on food and health has a complex relation to the Hippocratic approaches on this subject. The common dominant features that shape the discourse on food and health in Hippocratic dietetics and the Cynic philosophy are therefore explored and compared in the following section of this article. Finally, the last section focuses on the differences between the Hippocratic dietetic practice and the Cynic discourses on health, nature, and food.
