Abstract:
On the evidence of its figured scene, an Etruscan oinochoe, discovered in the early decades of this century and presently in the Palazzo dei Conservatori has offered provocative references to sculpture of celebrated Greek artists of the Classical Period (Pheidias, Polykleitos or Lysippos and Praxiteles). Through detailed investigations of the “Caeretan Figured Group”, it is now possible to attribute the vase to an Etruscan vasepainter active in Caere (modern Cerveteri) during the second half of the 4th Century B.C.
