Vitiligo

Known as leucodermia or achromia. Chronic epidermal disease due to the localized dissappearance of the melanocytes leading to white spots (depigmentation) on the skin. Size, appearance and location are variable. They tend to expand with time. This autoimmune disease involves the cells carrying the pigments that die or are unable to operate normally. Various factors such as stress, anxiety, psychological shock or friction can influence their evolution. The most usually affected regions are the limbs and the periorificial areas.
