Sheehan syndrome

Necrosis of the pituitary, secondary to bleeding of the immediate postpartum period or to head trauma. The first classically described symptom is lack of lactogenesis in the post-partum. Failure of production of the other anterior pituitary gland hormones follows. It is possible that many cases are in fact lymphocytic hypophysites .
