Potter, syndrome

Prevalence: 1/4,000. Male predominance (> 60 %). Syndrome associated with an oligohydramnios (independently of its cause):

-        pulmonary hypoplasia,

-        a "Potter" facies with low set ears, epicanthus, hypertelorism with broad nasal bridge and micrognathia;

-        renal agenesis or failure.


Anesthetic implications:

difficult intubation. Problematic artificial ventilation. Risk of pneumothorax. Renal failure
