Posner-Schlossman, syndrome

Very rare. Mainly affects adults between the age of 20 and 50 years. Unilateral inflammatory disease of the eye that causes recurring bouts of intraocular hypertension and uveitis. The etiology is unknown: infection ? allergy ? An association with HLABw54 has been observed in Japan. Some patients have an 'a minima' open-angle glaucoma of the affected eye .


Anesthetic implications:

monitoring intraocular pressure; avoid possible causes of intraocular hypertension (atropine?)
