Acronym for Omphalocele, cloacal Exstrophy, Imperforate anus and Spinal defects.
The prevalence is estimated at 1/200,000 to 1/400,000 pregnancies. Sporadic. Association of anomalies of the median line of the lower part of the body.
Presence of:
- an omphalocele
- a bladder or cloacal extrophy
- an imperforate anus
- vertebral and often central nervous system anomalies
Anesthetic implications:
complex neonatal surgery
