Klüver-Bucy, syndrome

Behavioral disorder involving primarily hyperphagia and hypersexuality.

It appears following a lesion of the temporal lobes foloowing trauma, a lobectomy, an encephalitis or cortical atrophy at the temporal level.

Other behavior disorders are observed such as:

-        emotional placidity

-        absence of fear

-        astereognosis: absence of visual recognition of objects

-        prosoagnosis: absence of face recognition

-        akathisia

-        hypermetamorphosis: compulsive need to put all the objects that appear in the visual field in the mouth

-        memory disorders


Anesthetic implications:

obesity, behavior disorder
