Tibial hemimelia

(Absence of tibia, Aplasia and dysplasia of the tibia with intact fibula)
Very rare (1/1.106 births). Unknown cause and mode of transmission. Association of an underdeveloped tibia to a normal fibula. Sometimes bilateral. The anomaly can be isolated or associated with other abnormalities of the limbs as in the Gollop-Wolfgang syndrome.
Anesthetic implications:
complex reconstructive orthopedic surgery .
