GLOW, syndrome

Acronym for Global developmental delay, Lung cysts, Overgrowth and Wilms tumor

Part of the spectrum of tumors caused by a mutation of the DICER1 gene (see this term).


Association of:

-        developmental delay,

-        lung cysts,.

-        excessive growth with macrocephaly

-        Wilms tumor (nephroblastoma).

-        slight facial dysmorphism: prominent forehead, large anterior fontanel, anteversed nostrils, moderate hypertelorism, moderate micrognathia.


Anesthetic Implications:

according to the type of tumor and its treatment, difficult ventilation (risk of pneumothorax ?)
