Female hypospadias

Very rare. Due to a developmental disorder of the urethrovaginal septum, the urethra opens into the anterior wall of the vagina. This malformation is often associated with spinal cord abnormalities and/or a neurological bladder.

A distinction is made between:

Symptomatology: urinary incontinence, frequent infections, sometimes acute urinary retention

Anesthetic implications:

renal echography (to exclude associated abnormalities); echography of the lumbosacral spinal canal given the high prevalence of spinal cord abnormalities (tethered spinal cord ?); general anesthesia associated with a pudendal, caudal or lumbar epidural block.
