Leibniz Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung (RWI)
The Leibniz
Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung (RWI) is an independent institution
for economic research serving the public interest. Its function is to monitor
economic developments; helping to recognise at an early stage those changes
that are potentially detrimental, and todemonstrate possibilities of circumventing
or overcoming their effects. Towards this end, diagnoses and forecasts of
economic developments are prepared. These are made with the aid of a broadly
based analytical system incorporating economic models. In addition, the
economic cause-effect relationships are scientifically investigated.
Its work provides the groundwork essential for policy-decisions in the
public and private sectors. Furthermore, it helps to broaden the general
understanding of economic relationships and adequate economic policies.
The results of RWI's work are published and are available to the public.
The institute's research groups are comprised of: Growth and Cycles;
Public Finance; Labor Markets, Population and Health; Migration, Integration
and Education; Empirical Industrial Organization; Environment and Resources;
Data.
