KOPINT-TARKI performs several types of activities (including commercial activities); one of its main areas is applied economic research. The Institute has been involved in the work aimed at reforming the economic system in Hungary. Its research activities cover the short and medium term prospects of both the international (especially the East-European) environment and the Hungarian economy.

Major research topics are: international macroeconomic and trade policies, Hungarian macroeconomic and trade policies, economic developments at the macro and micro level, economic transition, structural changes, privatization.
