"Service
to everyone, subservient to none" is the motto of the German Institute for
Economic Research, Berlin. It is composed of several departments and project
groups: national accounts, short-term (national ad international) forecasts
and policy analysis, public finance, world economy (international structural
analysis), industrial economics, information and technology, transportation,
energy and environment, socio-economic structures and the socio-economic
panel.
Using these groups the DIW serves the general public interest by observing and researching economic developments both in Germany and abroad. It assists international and national governmental and industrial decision-making through theoretical assessment, empirical studies, and policy analysis.
