Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis (CPB)

The mission of CPB Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis is to provide independent forecasts and analyses that are scientifically sound and up-to-date and that are relevant for the policy decisions of government, parliament, and other societal organisations such as political parties, trade unions, and employer's associations. CPB combines two tasks that in other countries tend to be separate: it is the accounting centre for budgetary and economic policy and a research centre preparing independent economic forecasts and analyses.

CPB staff spends about equal amounts of time on ongoing work and research. The ongoing work includes regular forecasts for the short- and medium-terms, as well as support for the policymaking activities of the Bureau's customers (ministries, political parties, social partners and other societal groups).

CPB research agenda includes many projects, divided into 9 themes: Knowledge economics, Competition and institutions, Economics and physical surroundings, Internationalisation and European integration, Modernisation of applied research, Development of national models, Labour and income, Sector studies, and The public sector.
