• ABSTRACT:
  A general scheme for trust-region methods on abstract Riemannian manifolds is proposed. The method is illustrated on costs functions on the orthogonal group related to the symmetric eigenvalue decomposition and the singular value decomposition. A truncated conjugate-gradient algorithm is utilized to solve the trust-region subproblems.
