Venue

The symposium will take place in the Halles Universitaires building in Louvain-la-Neuve. That building is located on a corner the central Place de l'Université (close to the fountain). This is a large building mainly devoted to central administration of UCL. Entrance is located after two flights of stairs, see the following picture (left: Halles building, middle: first flight of stairs, right:entrance after second flight of stairs)

Talks will take place in the André Oleffe room, located on the second floor in the Halles building. Registration, coffee breaks and the poster session will take place on a lower level (first floor in the same building). To reach those areas, turn left immediately after going through the entrance, follow the long hall, climbing all stairs in front of you. You will first reach the lower level area with the registration desk. The Oleffe room is located on a higher floor, follow the signs to reach it.

How to reach Louvain-la-Neuve

  • By train:
Louvain-la-Neuve is easily accessible by train and its train station is located next to the symposium venue. From Brussels, you can get to Louvain-la-Neuve in about 40 minutes.
From any Belgian station, take the train towards Ottignies, a station situated on the Brussels-Ottignies-Namur-Luxembourg line (trains every half hour in both directions). Get off at Ottignies station and change trains to continue to Louvain-la-Neuve-Université (about 8 min.). Some trains go straight from Brussels to Louvain-la-Neuve but take more time. Timetables are available on the web site of the SNCB/NMBS: http://www.belgianrail.be/.
Note: Be sure to go to "Louvain-la-Neuve-Université" and not "Louvain" (Leuven), which is a different city.
  • By car:
Take the E411 highway. Take exit 8a marked "Louvain-la-Neuve". You have two main options for parking:
    • The parkings in the centre cost around 15 euros/day. The one closest to the symposium venue is the Parking "Grand Rue". We recommend you to park in the blue section ("Accès Esope"). From that exit, make a U-turn on your right, and follow the main street (Grand Rue) for 50 meters to reach the venue.
    • Free parkings are available outside the centre. We recommend you to use the Parking "Rédimé" which is right next to the location of the dinner event. To reach it from the exit 8a, follow the signs "Quai 20" until you see the indication of Parking Rédimé on your right. From there, there is around 10-15 min walking to the venue, following the main pedestrian street (see map below).
(you can find more information about parking in Louvain-la-Neuve by following this link ; only the purple lots on the map are accessible to visitors without paying)
  • If you are staying in Wavre:
If you stay in a hotel in Wavre, the quickest transportation to Louvain-la-Neuve is by bus. The bus stop closest to all hotels is located "Pré des Querelles" (see map below). It is right in front of "Collège Technique St-Jean" on the left side coming from the main Boulevard. Alternatively you can also go to the train station. In both cases, you can take buses from line C, Cbis or 20. Be sure to take a bus that goes to Louvain-la-Neuve, as the buses to Brussels go through the same stops.
It takes around 15 minutes to reach Louvain-la-Neuve. Get out at the Louvain-la-Neuve bus station. More information and timetables can be found on the website of the TEC: https://www.infotec.be/.
