ISP Reading Group

In parallel to the ISP seminars, members of the ISPGroup organize regular "reading groups" (RG) dedicated to some advanced reading of books, monographs or papers.

The selected topics for these RG are, for instance, lecture sessions on

  • Convex optimization, based on the course (+ videos) with the same name by S. Boyd of Stanford University (http://www.stanford.edu/~boyd/cvxbook).
  • Proximal Algorithms, based on the monograph of the same name by N. Parikh and S. Boyd and on additional works from the specialized literature.

The goal of the exercise is to understand the principles and theory behind these themes, by following a structured course material and having a peer group to discuss.

The group members are encouraged to read the portion of the material to be covered every week, and participate in the lecture session. However, one of the members of the group takes the ownership (voluntarily) of the session, and prepares herself/himself for running the show.
