Main themes

The production seen is placed with regard to the literary field and its legitimacy authorities. Its specificity is put in evidence via an approach of theoretical analysis and practical exercises and it is preparing its pedagogical exploitation.

Content and teaching methods

Each year this seminar makes an introductory study of one or more paraliterary or non-literary production, such as the low-brow (popular) novels, love novel, detective novel, science-fiction, children's and juvenile's literature, feminine press, etc.
Study of the cultural communication system. Reference area and reference groups. Production and consumption of writings. Literary and paraliterary field. Specific production features. Ideological function. In-depth analysis of a production type.
