Aims

The teaching staff in charge of the course description defines the knowledge and skills the student must have acquired at the end of the course (Maximum 10 lines)

1. To enable the students to acquire a well-structured image of the main genetic and typological relations unifying but also diversifying the roman languages.

Course description (subject of the course)
The teaching staff in charge of the course description defines the main themes to be dealt with to reach the objectives aimed. It is not a table of contents. (Maximum 15 lines)

2. Comparision between the main roman idioms and this from a phonetic and lexico-semantic point of view.

Content and teaching methods

According to the pre-established course description, the teaching person summarizes the contents and precises the methods used.

3. General introduction : reflection on the methodologies of comparing languages and on the relations between language and culture. Comparision of the roman idioms : emphasis will be put on the phonetic and lexical aspects, that played a deciding role in the fragmentation of the Roman area and in general, on the perception of the significant geolinguistic phenomena.

Prerequisites : The teaching staff in charge of the course description informs on the prerequisites, the assessment, the texts and books, the teaching staff, extra information,...)
Knowledge of latin, phonetics and of the general structure of the Roman area.

Written exam.

Set of documents : bibliography, evolution diagrams, maps.
