Message of the Coordinator

Dear DYSCO members,

As you know, the promotors and workpackage coordinators are now quite busy preparing the new proposal for the next version of DYSCO. So if they ask you to contribute to this new proposal in any way, please reply promptly; it will help us to finalize the proposal in optimal conditions. And we think that our chances to get the extension of this IAP funding is quite high, so let us keep our fingers crossed ...

Meanwhile the end of the current IAP is getting closer. The last study day of our IAP will be organized by Joos Vandewalle and Dirk Roose of the K.U.Leuven groups. It will be held at the Thermotechnisch Instituut, Kasteelpark Arenberg, Heverlee on Tuesday November 29th.

We will have two excellent invited speakers: Larry Biegler from Carnegie Mellon University (optimization, nonlinear process control), and Henk Nijmeijer from T.U.Eindhoven (nonlinear dynamical control systems). More information on the program will follow as soon as it is available, but please book this date already in your agenda.

I also want to point out that the new program of our Graduate School is already available on the web, and that you can already sign up for any of the courses. Below you will find some information about the first course which already starts in October.

Paul Van Dooren
DYSCO coordinator
