Message from the Coordinator

2010 is off to a good start.

We had an excellent promotors' meeting in Brussels on 13 January, where important decisions were taken concerning our DYSCO network, including some preliminary brainstorming regarding the future of DYSCO in the next IAP phase.

But first the good news: after 20 years in the pilot's seat, the coordinator of DYSCO has been allowed to pass the gavel. On his retirement on 1 October, he will be replaced as coordinator by Paul Van Dooren, who will serve in this function until the end of the present IAP phase, i.e. 31 December 2011. I am convinced that Paul will bring new enthusiasm and great leadership in this position, and I am grateful that he has accepted to take over as coordinator of DYSCO.

The promotors have also planned two study days for 2010. The first one will be organized by the UGent team and will take place in Het Pand (Gent), on 31 May. The second one will take place in the Fall in Louvain la Neuve. It will be a two-day workshop to celebrate a number of special events involving the outgoing and ingoing coordinator of DYSCO. More on this later.

Finally, as many of you know, we have launched the production of the report that will serve for the evaluation of our network. This is a rather heavy task, and I wish to thank all members of the network for their active participation in this process.

Michel Gevers
DYSCO coordinator
