Main themes - historical and epistemological introduction to the bio-psycho-social aspects of psychiatry - discussion of the syndrome-based and dimensional approach in psychiatry - neurobiological bases of psychiatry (genetics, receptors and neurotransmission, chronobiology, electrophysiology, neuroendocrine tests, human pharmacology) - nosography (childhood and other ages) : description, scales, pathogenesis (especially the biological dimension), treatments (idem). Special emphasis on organic mental disorders and the biological bases of drug abuse - special psychiatry : suicide, legal psychiatry, post-partum, emergencies and attacks, therapies, indications and effects of psychotropic drugs and other medicines.
Aims To introduce students to psychiatry: semiology, bio-psycho-social understanding, clinical psychiatry and treatments, including biological treatments. Introduction adapted for students in human sciences for the neurobiological dimensions. Applications to different stages in life from a perspective which links the different biological, psychological and social approaches.
Content - Introduction - Part 1 : general clinical practice Psycho-organic disorders, acquired psycho-organic disorders, mental retardation, psychopathological disorders, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, neurotic and anxiety disorders, personality disorders, behaviour disorders, drug abuse, eating disorders, sexual disorders, psychosomatic disorders. - Part 2 : special issues Suicide and attempted suicide, involuntary confinement, psychopathological disorders in the perinatal period, psychotherapies, review of the main psychiatric drugs.
