At the end of this course, students should be able to :
- Identify and use effectively the main characteristics when reading specialized business discourse in French ;
- Write texts specific to the business world taking into account the various types of communication and the conventions specific to them ;
- Use the tools available in business communication to prepare, write or present specific texts.
Main themes
Students will use a variety of approaches to improve their writing and comprehension of business texts: reading and rewriting of articles and specialized texts (particularly rewriting and reviews of articles read); analysis and writing of specialized texts (infomercials, press releases, minutes of meetings, letters and emails, editorials, etc.).
These activities will be carried out individually and in groups.
Individual work will be based primarily on :
- preparation for final exam and evaluation of exam;
- comprehension and writing of specialized discourse.
Group work will be based on one or two projects introduced at the beginning of the course (for example, company news letters, interviews).
Content and teaching methods
The course is based mainly on individual and group work. Learning is therefore inductive. The aims of the exercise classes are:
- to define the learning objectives both in the individual and group work using concrete situations and/or by brief description of technical or theoretical elements required in carrying out these objectives;
- to make general suggestions so as to improve the different projects and exercises presented, as well as evaluating each student and group of students.
