The main objective of the lectures is to introduce students to the therapeutic and diagnostic applications of nanotechnologies.By the end of this course, they should be able to- critically evaluate the contributions of nanotechnologies in the fields of therapeutics and diagnostics,- propose solutions based on nanotechnologies for biological and biomedical applications.
Main themes
The lecture will review the composition of nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) and their role in physiology and pathology. We will illustrate with actual examples the basic principles of the technologies used in medical biotechnology (in vitro and in vivo) stressing on the present limitations, and on the actual and the potential advantages of technologies based on "nano". We will also emphasize actual achievements and perspectives of nanotechnologies (cantilevers, nanochips, nanospheres, ...).
