Keywords: collection and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data, meta-analysis, measurement
After a brief introduction, three presentations will be devoted to topics hardly examined in the curriculum of the masters: meta-analysis, sampling techniques (random sampling, stratified sampling, and 'clustered' sampling) and data collection in non-experimental settings, and methods devoted to the analysis of open questionnaires. This will be covered during four classes of two hours each.
Remaining sessions will then adopt a seminar format. The topics will be case studies of earlier conducted research and the goal will be to examine the various problems attached to each case. The case studies will be selected on the basis of the research projects of the students.
The evaluation will be concerned with participation during the presentations, the case-studies and a final report devoted to a specific project.
