FRAN 1501 - French - " Learning French through cinema " - a course for beginners.
A course for students enrolled at the UCL (Erasmus and non Erasmus) who take FRAN 1501 as a faculty or
as an optional course as well as for free students (étudiants libres) who are not enrolled at the UCL.

Pre-requisite: Level B2 in the four skills.
Aim
At the end of the course, students are expected to have reached a C1 level (CEF) in speaking, listening and writing and in reading.
Method and contents
In this course, students :
study authentic documents: films, texts on cinema and several topics. He/she gives oral presentations and participate in debates with others students on different subjects;
use and practise grammar in oral and written situations (for ex., complex sentences, particular structures);
study the different levels and registers of language (familiar, idiomatic, formal) as well as the use of idioms.
Evaluation
- Continuous assessment: language tests, oral and written exercises. Texts with argumentation, recorded
interviews.
- Written and oral exam.
